Cough
Most coughs are viral and clear up within 1–3 weeks.
When it's usually nothing
- Dry or wet, but you can still speak in full sentences.
- Warm fluids, honey (over age 1), and humid air help.
- No fever over 102°F, no shortness of breath at rest.
When to get checked
- Coughing up blood, or chest pain with each breath.
- Trouble breathing, lips or fingers turning bluish.
- Cough lasting more than 3 weeks, or high fever that won't break.
Take a breath. Let's figure this out together.
